Storing research peptide compounds

Most lyophilised peptide compounds are stable for months when stored in a sealed, light-protected container at refrigerated temperatures. Once reconstituted, stability drops significantly and most researchers use the solution within days or weeks.

Temperature fluctuations are the biggest enemy of peptide integrity. Avoid leaving parcels in a hot mailbox or transferring vials repeatedly between warm and cold environments. Use a dedicated refrigerator or freezer compartment rather than a door shelf.

Moisture is the second concern. Only open a vial in a dry environment, and reseal it immediately. If a peptide has become clumped, discoloured or has an unusual odour, do not use it in your assay.
